Anderson County Hospital located in Garnett is a St. Lukes Health

Renovated
in 2002, the hospital is a general, short-term, acute care hospital
with an attached long-term care unit. Total number of beds: 57;
medical/surgical-25, long-term care unit-32.
The
Anderson County Hospital operates the emergency ambulance service
with three Type 1 units staffed by certified emergency medical
technicians.
The
hospital offers a wide range of outpatient services including
laboratory, radiology, respiratory, pharmacy, physical therapy,
speech therapy, plus additional services provided by mobile units
scheduled into the hospital on a regular basis. CT Scan and mammography

Anderson County is served by two unified school districts, USD
365 and USD 479. There are two private, Holy Angels School in
Garnett and St. Johns located in Greeley.
USD
365 (www.usd365.k12.ks.us)
in Garnett is the largest district, covering some 420 square miles
in Anderson, Coffey, Linn, and Franklin counties. The central
office is in Garnett. The primary area served is Northern Anderson
County. Elementary schools are located in the communities of Greeley,
Mont Ida, and Westphalia. Two elementary schools and the Anderson
County Jr.- Sr. High School are located in Garnett.
Approximately
1,000 students are served in the this school district, grades
K-12. These students are served by a teaching staff of 80 certified
personnel, providing for a low teacher/student ratio of 13/1.
Special services are provided by teachers hired through the special
education cooperative located in Paola, Kansas.
USD
479 in Kincaid services the educational needs of students in the
southern area of Anderson County. This school district covers
177 square miles in Anderson and north Allen counties. The system
staffs 25 regular
certified personnel with 293 students in grades K-12.
USD 479 participates in educational cooperatives in both Girard
and Humboldt, and extracurricular activities are performed within
the Three Rivers League Association.
The
district broadens its education offerings with a satellite communications
system and a modern desktop publishing system for its art and
journalism classes.
Two
facilities comprise the district, one at Colony and one at the
district's office in Kincaid.
